Office of Special Prosecutor Declares Ken Ofori-Atta A Wanted Man Over Corruption Scandals

Former Finance Minister of Ghana, Samuel Ofori-Atta, has been declared a wanted fugitive by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), after failing to appear before the office in relation to several corruption scandals.

The Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng, announced the news in a press conference at the agency’s offices in Accra on Wednesday, February 12th, 2025.

According to him, Ofori-Atta is wanted in regard to four corruption cases including the National Cathedral project, the Strategic Mobilization Limited (SML) scandal, and others.

The OSP said Ofori-Atta, who is believed to be out of the country, should return immediately to face justice.

Agyebeng said if Ofori-Atta did not voluntarily return, steps would be taken to haul him back.

Speaking during the press conference, Kissi Agyebeng said Ofori-Atta’s lawyers have claimed that he is invalid and cannot travel but the office did not buy that explanation.

According to him per their investigations, Ofori-Atta is not in a state where he cannot travel but he’s simply attempting to use his health as an excuse to escape questioning.

Kissi Agyebeng also denied reports that the military raided Ofori-Atta’s house, calling it an operation by the former Minister himself in an effort to court public sympathy.
